January 2022 - Little Briar Kitchen Makeover
2022 STOP PRESS: New kitchen with a 50:50 fridge freezer, mini dishwasher, integrated microwave, cooker hood and built under double oven - ready for 2022. In January 2022 we added a new kitchen. In 2021 we added a new paved deck, fencing and gates with a partial polycarbonate roof shelter. Inside we added - new floor coverings, curtains and cushions - a new TV unit, 2 seater sofa and comfy Natuzzi leather chair too - new dog bowls and toys. Experience the same old ever changing incredible views over Loch Earn. We look forward to welcoming regular and new guests for pet friendly holidays on water.
2021 NEWS UPDATE: The old wooden deck has gone and a paved area with a coated wire fence and wooden gates has replaced it. There is a partial polycarbonate roof above the door for shade and shelter. Patio lights complete the effect.

Little Briar is a charming, pet friendly, two bedroom stone cottage that faces south offering breathtaking and romantic views over Loch Earn to Glenample and Stuc A Chroin Munro from its elevated position.
Little Briar is surrounded by an Indian sandstone paved patio, fenced and gated with a partial polycarbonate roof shelter. The patio leads to landscaped gardens featuring ornamental furniture and barbecue facilities.
Pets adore the run around space in the sloping paddock to the rear of Little Briar. The grounds lead up to the old disbanded railway path via a wooden stile. There is a stream that runs from the top of the garden. Dogs love to splash in the flat pool area that Fraser has landscaped. Sit at the picnic table in the top corner of the garden. The last place that the sun hits before it disappears. Don't forget to take your camera! It is lovingly named Norman's View after Frasers brother.
We usually don't see snow at ground level for long, though the hills and Munro tops can be covered until Spring. When the snow comes the scene is majestic. It is fun to sledge down our hilly garden and you can follow the deer hoof marks all the way from the top of the paddock down to the loch garden as per this You Tube video.
We mostly mention dog friendly holidays simply because 98% of pets that come to Briar Cottages are dogs. We have welcomed a couple of birds in cages too. Let us know about any other pet that you would like to bring.

Super Ted swimming in Loch Earn from Briar Cottages garden
![]() A short driveway leads to the cottage from the main gates (near the double garage) with parking for 2 cars. Guests can fish from the garden (March 15th to October 6th) without a permit.
Play petanque (bocce ball) and 6 flag lawn putting in our 250ft private garden area on the banks of Loch Earn where we have a jetty, slipway and mooring buoys. Some owners let their dogs swim and fetch balls in the loch. Some guests love to swim in summer (and a few hardy open water swimmers in winter months too). You are welcome, however , stay near the shore as the loch is cold and deep - unless you are training for Iron Man like some of our guests have. Our property lies on the edge of Lochearnhead village at the center of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park of Scotland. The cottages are ideally situated for day trips north, south, east and west from the A84 and A85 crossroads in Lochearnhead. An interesting address in Strathearn. Many still use Perthshire in the address however today Loch Earn starts off in the catchment of rural Stirling and becomes Perthshire travelling East towards St Fillans. So, the best of all addresses. We are even at the Gateway to the Highlands if you follow the A85 North via Glencoe.
This is a popular location for walking, Munros, cycling, fishing, golfing and water sports enthusiasts, with horse riding options too. The perfect spot for those interested in history, wildlife, plants, forests, fairies and folklore. Or why not simply relax and do nothing! The views over Loch Earn are breathtaking and the region boasts excellent eateries from pub grub to fine dining. The nearest pet friendly hotels are The Clachan Cottage and Lochearnhead Hotel 150 meters and 200 meters from the gates. |
